Association Fellowships in Minnesota
For the current academic year,
2008-2009, the Educational Foundation of AAUW awarded more than 250
fellowships, grants and special awards to outstanding women, totaling more
than $4.5 million. Of these
recipients, three are studying or working in Minnesota: Jen Cornell is working on a J.D. in Law at the University of
Minnesota (funded by a career development grant); Alvina Siaka is working
with African immigrant women to prevent the spread of AIDS/HIV using
family education (funded by a community action grant); Elizabeth Mumia is
working on her Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota, and plans to return
to Kenya to work with local communities facing human-wildlife conflicts
(funded by an International Fellowship). All
three of these scholars were funded by money raised in Minnesota by local
branches. Scholars in many other
disciplines and academic locations were funded by Minnesota Fellowships
and Research and Projects Grants, as well. Click on the AAUW website, www.aauw.org , Education, fellowships, Grants and Awards for more detailed information.
