LEADER ON LOAN PROGRAM

The Minnesota Leader on Loan program offers branches the opportunity of having a state board member or past state leader to provide branch support or programming.  Please feel free to consult with the state president or leadership director about your request or needs.

AAUW-MN will cover the leaders transportation cost (as funds are available). The host branch is responsible for any meals or overnight accommodations.

A request form* should be submitted to the state board’s Leadership Development Director or President. Final approval is by the State President. Branches may request a specific person but final decisions will be based on topic expertise, availability and proximity to the host branch.

Click here for a LOL request form.

BBC-BOARD TO BRANCH CALLS

"For members only"

BBC's will be made in October and March.

WHAT IT IS AND HOW IT WORKS......
The BBC program was started several years ago to establish a communication link between the Minnesota State Board and the branches. The State Board feels it is important to stay connected to each of our 37 branches in Minnesota since the branches are the "grassroots" of the AAUW organization. The work the branches do to keep the mission of AAUW alive is vital to the decisions and work the Minnesota State Board does.

An additional goal of the program is to provide a mentorship and a networking tool for the branches. Each State Board member has 3 branches that they contact twice a year. The Branch President is the branch contact and if she cannot be reached another officer is called. Board members are encouraged to be a mentor and friend of the branch and in a dialogue with the President find out how the branch is doing and if there are issues that the State Board could help with. All of us can relate to how discouraging certain issues are and where we can turn for help and answers; also, we can reap some good solutions from branches that we can pass on to other branches.

The goal of this program is to make contact with EVERY branch in Minnesota. After the branch reports are received from State Board members, these reports are compiled into an "Information Exchange" format that is sent to Branch Presidents and posted on the website. If a particular project or idea looks intriguing or might be a fit for a branch, they are encouraged to contact the Branch directly for more information or they are more comfortable contacting their State Board mentor, that is great. We seem to get so busy at our conferences or conventions that we don't have time to interact with other branch members in the state. Hopefully, this program will "bridge the gap" and foster positive working relationships. We can all learn a great deal from one another.
We respect the uniqueness of each branch relative to its demographics and geographic location; therefore, it is obvious that we all go about achieving our goals in different ways. However, our mission is the same.

Branch contacts are made during September/October and March of the following year. If you have any questions you would like to have addressed to other branch, please contact me. Or if you have suggestions relative to this program, please e-mail or call me. I want this program to work well for everyone.
If you have any questions about this program, please contact me at 651-439-9432 or e-mail mparch01@aol.com. Thank you for your participation in what we believe is a valuable resource for the State Board and your branch.
