ST. PAUL
Best of the Year

The St. Paul branch was honored to host the Minnesota AAUW State Convention, April 25–27, 2008. Those who were able to attend visited our clubhouse, and realized that the St. Paul branch is unique in that we have our own clubhouse and staff. We have programs every Tuesday, starting at 11 a.m., followed by lunch at noon and another program at 1 p.m. The programs are outstanding.

We have an active membership with a wide variety of interests. We have three bridge groups, a travel group, and two book clubs. Great Decisions discussion groups meet the third Tuesday afternoon of each month.

Our fundraising activities include an August tea in our garden, a nut sale, a book sale, Happenings book sales, and gift cards from two local nurseries. This has made it possible to contribute to the Educational Foundation, Legal Advocacy Fund, and our Scholarship Trust for high school students and an adult returning to school to complete a college degree.

The St. Paul branch has reconnected with the Women’s Advocate Shelter, which opened in 1974, and was the nation’s first shelter for battered women and children. St. Paul AAUW was involved in those early years. The donations our members made this year have helped the shelter and our mission.

We are flourishing because of the outstanding work of our committee members.
